Don’t miss your chance to explore your interests, build valuable skills, and be part of a community that turns curiosity into action. The Museum offers opportunities for middle- and high-school students to dive deeper into a variety of science topics. Through hands-on program experiences, volunteers can connect what they’re learning in school to careers, current research and real challenges facing our world today. Several programs are now accepting applications.

Junior Curators are volunteers with an intense interest in conservation, animal care and field biology. Junior Curators directly support the Museum’s conservation efforts by participating in educational programs and events, field experiences in natural areas, natural history service projects and assisting in the care of the Museum’s live animal collection. This is a school year-based program. Application deadline March 9.

Junior Interpreters are teens who are passionate about sharing the wonders of science and the natural world with others. Junior Interpreters interact directly with the public out on the Museum floor and provide positive, educational experiences for visitors using natural history specimens from the Museum’s collections. This is a 10-week summer program. Application deadline March 23.

Climate Resilience Camp is a week-long summer STEM enrichment program for high school students. The week is focused on exploring impacts of natural disasters and extreme weather and investigating strategies for increasing resilience in their communities. This is a one-week program. Application deadline April 8.

Café Coordinators are the planners and hosts of the Museum’s Teen Science Cafés — monthly presentations featuring cutting-edge science research and careers in STEM. Teen Science Cafés are free Museum programs for teens, hosted by teens, and the Café Coordinators are responsible for making them happen. This is a school year-based program. Application deadline April 20.
