Magnetic Navigation in Sea Turtles
Lohmann Lab, UNC Chapel Hill
The lab will have an interactive booth to learn about how sea turtles and other animals can use the Earth’s magnetic field to navigate over long distances. They will also have activities to learn more about general sea turtle behavior, biology and conservation.

Turtle Trekkers
Piedmont Wildlife Center
Piedmont Wildlife Center will be bringing their telemetry equipment and two live box turtles to demonstrate how they monitor and research box turtles in Durham, NC. They will also be looking for citizen science participants for their box turtle research project, Turtle Trekkers.

Veterinary Sciences at the Museum will be doing turtle exams throughout the event, with exams beginning at 11am, 1pm, 2pm, 3pm and 4pm.

Virginia Museum of Natural History
The museum is Virginia’s state repository for natural history collections, and the Herpetology Lab will be bringing a variety of herpetological items, like 3D-printed reptile and amphibian skulls, fossil crocodile teeth and more, as well as a few interactive educational activities.
