Live reptiles and amphibians
The Museum’s Living Collection includes more than 50 species of live reptiles and amphibians displayed in 35 exhibits located throughout the Nature Exploration Center (NEC) and Nature Research Center (NRC). Here, visitors can see examples of the venomous and nonvenomous snakes native to North Carolina, the largest Common Snapping Turtle ever found in the state, a Southeast Asian turtle that is among the world’s rarest species, colorful frogs and snakes of South American rainforests, and many more examples of fascinating reptiles and amphibians.
