Lifelong Adventure: Topsail Island Sea Turtle

  • 1:30pm Monday, August 19, 2024 - 3:00pm Wednesday, August 21, 2024

Learn about sea turtles and possibly witness the hatching of sea turtles on Topsail Island. Participants will spend evenings on the beach “nest sitting” — waiting for baby loggerhead sea turtles to leave their sandy nests. Daytime hours can be spent swimming, beach combing or catching up on sleep. We will also visit the Topsail Sea Turtle Hospital to learn about their work caring for sick and injured sea turtles.

Please note: You will be required to enter the following information for each registrant before you can complete your registration: emergency contact, physician contact and health information (allergies, conditions, medications relevant to this field experience). Take a moment to gather this information before beginning your registration.

Details

  • Fee: $120 per participant; $102 per member participant. (Fee covers travel from Raleigh and admission fees. Participant pays for lodging and meals. Lodging rates begin at $159/per night for non-ocean front rooms.)
  • Requirements: Minimum age 12 (minors must be accompanied by a registered adult).
  • Cancellation Notice: Refunds only issued if the Museum cancels the trip, or if cancellation is made in one of the following ways at least two weeks prior to the trip date: Either in writing via email to Missy Chernick or through the Museum box office (919.707.9950). We cannot issue credits, rain checks, or transfers for these trips.
