Art of Science: Native Flowers and Embroidery

  • Saturday, May 18, 2024
  • 10:00am - 1:00pm

The Art of Science series is for adults who like to blend science and art. Each program will include hands-on experience with a citizen science project paired with an associated art project. Participants will take home their project and tools so they can make additional projects on their own.

In this program, we will explore native flowering plants before doing flower-themed embroidery! Instructions for collecting and submitting flower data and making your embroidery project will be provided during the program — no experience required. Your program fee covers all the supplies you’ll need to make two embroidered flower designs, including floss, needles, hoops, fabric, scissors, and a needle threader. Instruction will be provided to make your own flower design or you may use one provided by the instructor.

Pre-registration is required for this in-person program for adults and there is a fee to attend ($15 members, $17 non-members).  Please register online here.

This program will be conducted entirely outdoors, at least partly in a covered, shaded space that is exposed to the outdoors. Please come prepared for a short walk over uneven terrain by wearing sturdy closed-toed shoes and dressing for the weather.
