2025 Theme Bug

This year, BugFest shines a spotlight on krill! These tiny arthropods may be small, but they have a colossal impact. Their massive swarms, which can stretch up to 60 miles, are so large they are visible from space! Beyond their sheer numbers, krill are also a crucial part of the global ecosystem, playing a vital role in the food web and even helping to combat climate change by removing carbon from the atmosphere. In addition to krill, you’ll see other marine decapods highlighted at this year’s event.
