New Trouble on the Neuse River - title screen

Community advocates, activists, and scientists will come together to answer the public’s questions after a screening of the WRAL documentary “New Trouble on the Neuse” hosted by Bill Leslie, Thursday, August 29 at 7:00 p.m. at the NC Museum of Natural Sciences. Free.

“New Trouble on the Neuse” comes almost 30 years after reporter Bill Leslie’s original documentary, which prompted bipartisan support for protection of the Neuse River. Three decades later, those studying and working to protect the river have surveyed how it’s doing. Their verdict? Not good.

After the short documentary the public will have a chance to ask questions and hear from Upper Neuse Riverkeeper Matthew Starr; activist Rick Dove; scientists Dr. Joanne Burkholder (NCSU), Dr. Doug Rader (Environmental Defense Fund), Dr. Nathan Hall (UNC Institute of Marine Sciences), Dr. Stan Riggs (ECU); as well as WRAL reporter Bill Leslie.

Join us for an evening of conversation about protecting the waterways we love.

Snacks and beverages will be available for purchase on the first floor of the Nature Exploration Center, 6–7pm.

Film screening and Q&A hosted by Sound Rivers and the NC Museum of Natural Sciences.
