  • Friday, November 07, 2025
  • 6:00pm - 7:00pm
  • Downtown Raleigh
A woman on a dock holds a sturgeon, with a body of water in the background.

This month, we’re joined by Dr. Heather Evans, Conservation Genetics Manager for the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission. She uses applied genetics to conserve and manage populations within our state. The tools and methods she uses answer questions such as:

Where do species occur?
What is the genetic diversity between populations?
What are their boundaries?
Is hybridization between species occurring?

Come learn about the important research being done to answer these questions!

This program is recommended for participants ages 11–17. Cafés will be held in person at the Daily Planet Café and streamed live on YouTube.
