Lifelong Hike: Picture Creek

  • Wednesday, June 12, 2024
  • 7:00am - 3:00pm

We will hike through the world’s largest population of the federally endangered smooth coneflower in peak bloom during this visit to the Picture Creek nature preserve. This power-line corridor through a unique diabase geologic area gives us a good sense of what the Piedmont prairies were like in earlier times. You will see wildflowers here that you don’t see in most areas of the Piedmont.
