Join our resident pond insect expert at the Prairie Ridge pond as we look at and document its biodiversity! We’ll dive into the world of the aquatic invertebrates that live below the surface while also keeping an eye out for above-water pond organisms like dragonflies, damselflies, birds, frogs, turtles, and more!
This program is designed for visitors of all ages, particularly those with an interest in learning more about citizen science! Families with kids welcomed and encouraged to attend, as well as adults looking for an opportunity to dive into pond ecology. This is a free program beginning at 2:00pm at the Prairie Ridge pond platforms (follow the trail through the prairie and over the ridge until you see the Bird Blind and pond at the bottom of the hill). Come dressed for the weather and prepared to get wet! Downloading the iNaturalist app ahead of time will be helpful in preparing to document the critters you find.
