Research Interests

Laura is a 2014 graduate of UNC-Wilmington with a B.S. in Biology, but has also completed the required courses within Marine Biology. She finds virtually all aspects of biology fascinating and in her spare time enjoys volunteering and educating others on how to reduce our impact on the environment. During Laura’s undergraduate education, her research experiences culminated in her development of a method to test the effects of Pyriproxyfen on the molt cycle of the common crayfish. Since beginning her work in the fishes unit, she has focused on developing an understanding of biological data collection, archival and utility. Laura has also become very interested in how molecular and physiological processes drive evolution, and plans to continue her education and research by pursuing her Ph.D. within the field of evolutionary biology.
