Microbes, the term used for organisms too small to be seen with the naked eye, have often been viewed simply as “germs” that cause disease. Yet contrary to this common misconception, most of the microbes that live in your body are vital to keeping your digestive system, your immune system, and even your brain working properly. Now at the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences, “The Secret World Inside You” exhibition uses larger-than-life models, computer interactives, videos and art installations to explore the new but rapidly evolving science that is revolutionizing how we look at human health and understand the inner workings of our bodies.
To show appreciation for all North Carolina state employees, the Museum is offering a Valentine’s Week treat: free admission to the exhibition, February 13-19. Simply show your state identification at the Museum Box Office, 11 West Jones Street (friends and family still need to purchase tickets).
Come meet your microbes!
