Dry forests on San Cristobal, Galapagos

Dr. Diego Riveros-Iregui teaches a field course at UNC-CH on tropical ecohydrology and has students travel with him to the Galapagos Islands, Ecuador. The course focuses on using sensors and collecting carbon data in freshwater, soil and air samples to learn more about the impacts of climate change. While the areas he studies are in the tropics, they are at high elevation and are cold. Increase in global temperatures will change these ecosystems and release stored carbon into the air. Join us to hear about his work and the impact that carbon released in the Galapagos may have on us here in NC.
