Science Detectives: Tropical Biodiversity

Join us for classes designed especially for homeschool and track-out students. These 60-minute classes allow us to delve deeper into topics and incorporate additional learning experiences.

The tropics are home to the greatest diversity of life!  During this program, students will learn where on Earth the tropics are located and uncover some of North Carolina’s connections to these far-away places. A variety of tropical habitats will be discovered while exploring the biodiversity within tropical ecosystems. We’ll extend learning opportunities and deepen connections by visiting the Living Conservatory, a Central American tropical dry forest exhibit, where students can find live butterflies, turtles, a tarantula, snake, and even a two-toed sloth.

Participants must be 8-10 years old for this program.
