Science Detectives: Animals in Winter

Join us for classes designed especially for homeschool and track-out students. These 60-minute classes allow us to delve deeper into topics and incorporate additional learning experiences.

Brrrr, it’s chilly outside! As winter wears on, do you find yourself wondering where many of the animals have gone? You probably know about animals who migrate, but what about the slower moving animals who creep or crawl and can’t leave? There are many different ways animals can survive in the winter, so join us to explore concepts like hibernation, brumation, and torpor. We’ll take a look at just who is underground and underfoot, or hiding out in places that may surprise you!

Participants must be 8-10 years old for this program. This is a drop-off program, but adults must stay in the Museum during the program time.
