The ocean has a way of changing people-especially young people who are invited to explore its wonders up close. Through the Ocean for All Alliance, ocean educators from South Africa, Argentina, and Ecuador offer youth meaningful, hands-on experiences like snorkeling, mindfulness on the shoreline, coastal exploration, and beach clean-ups. Partnering with the University of North Carolina Wilmington, evaluators are studying how these moments shape young people’s connection to the ocean and inspire them to care for it, while also strengthening the skills of the small and remote organizations that run these programs.
