Program Full

Lifelong Longleaf Hike: Carvers Creek

  • Wednesday, May 22, 2024
  • 7:00am - 6:00pm

Our spring hikes will be in the Land of the Longleaf Pine in partnership with the North Carolina Botanical Garden’s Saving Our Savannas program series.  The Botanical Garden, with partner organizations, has developed an exciting schedule of hikes, lectures and workshops covering the history, ecology and culture of longleaf pine communities.  Learn more about this exciting program series.

Our visit to Carvers Creek State Park in Cumberland County will begin with learning that its story began as the winter retreat of James Stillman Rockefeller. Now we all can enjoy the picturesque millpond and hike trails through impressive stands of longleaf pine on this once private estate.
