Lifelong Hike: Picture Creek

  • Wednesday, June 01, 2022
  • 7:00am - 4:00pm

Join us on this wildflower hike at the Picture Creek Diabase Barren in Granville County. We will hike through the world’s largest population of the federally endangered Smooth Coneflower near peak bloom at this nationally significant natural site. We will explore the unique diabase geology of the area and learn why it resulted in such a rare plant community in Piedmont North Carolina.
