We will head east (yes, we have a mountain east of us) from Raleigh to hike the trails of Medoc Mountain State Park. Medoc Mountain was once part of a mighty range of mountains but, after 300 million years of erosion, it is a mere 325 feet above sea level. Our hike will explore the geology, plants and animals of this rare “coastal plain mountain.”
