We head east, as far as we can, to explore the barrier islands that make up the Outer Banks. Our adventure will include birding at Pea Island National Wildlife Refuge, hiking in the maritime forest of Nags Head Woods and scrambling up the huge sand dune of Jockey’s Ridge State Park.

Please note: You will be required to enter the following information for each registrant before you can complete your registration: emergency contact, physician contact and health information (allergies, conditions, medications relevant to this field experience). Take a moment to gather this information before beginning your registration.

  • Fee: $150 per participant; $127.50 per member participant. (Fee includes transportation and instruction. Participant pays for lodging and meals. (Lodging at Comfort Inn South Oceanfront in Nags Head. Hotel registration information will be sent to program registrants.))
  • Requirements: Minimum age 18.
  • Cancellation Notice: Refunds only issued if the Museum cancels the trip, or if cancellation is made in one of the following ways at least two weeks prior to the trip date: Either in writing via email to Missy Chernick or through the Museum box office (919.707.9950). We cannot issue credits, rain checks, or transfers for these trips.
