Lifelong Adventure: Earth to Sky Astronomy

Join us on this astronomy and nature adventure in the mountains at Mayland Community College’s Earth to Sky Park near Burnsville. We’ll explore some trails during the day then explore the night sky at the Bare Dark Sky Observatory with their staff and our own astronomer, Patrick Treuthardt. We’ll stay in the Blue Ridge Boutique Hotel operated by Mayland Community College in nearby Spruce Pine.

Please note: You will be required to enter the following information for each registrant before you can complete your registration: emergency contact, physician contact and health information (allergies, conditions, medications relevant to this field experience). Take a moment to gather this information before beginning your registration.

  • Fee: $150 per participant; $127.50 per member participant. Fee includes transportation and observatory fees. Participant pays for meals and accommodations.
  • Requirements: Minimum age 18.
  • Cancellation Notice: Refunds only issued if the Museum cancels the trip, or if cancellation is made in one of the following ways at least two weeks prior to the trip date: Either in writing via email to Missy Chernick or through the Museum box office (919.707.9950). We cannot issue credits, rain checks, or transfers for these trips.
