Learning From Lichens

  • Saturday, March 14, 2026
  • 1:00pm - 3:00pm
  • Prairie Ridge

Explore the beautiful and mysterious world of lichens! Join us for a walk through the bottomlands of Prairie Ridge as we look for lichens, learn to identify them, and contribute lichen observations to the global collaborative science project iNaturalist. We will learn about lichen ecology, biology, and how they are crucial kin.

This program is for ages 8+. Meet in the Outdoor Classroom, a 3-5 minute walk down the gravel path from the parking lot. From there we will take a leisurely stroll down to the creek, about a quarter mile. Bring water, a notebook if you’d like, and dress for the weather.
