Gardening for Wildlife

Want to do your part for the planet and transform your yard into a haven for wildlife? Join us to learn more about gardening with native plants and do-it-yourself features to provide shelter, water and nesting places for birds and other wildlife. This outdoor, hands-on program is designed for both newbie and experienced gardeners and includes native plants to take home to get you started! Completion of this program gains Environmental Education certification credit in Criteria II or III.

The workshop will take place in three parts with the first two being optional.

Gardening for Wildlife Workshop Schedule

  • 10:00am: Meet at offsite location to tour a native shade garden (optional)
  • 11:30am: Bring your lunch to picnic and explore the Prairie Ridge property (optional)
  • 12pm-3:30pm: Main workshop at Prairie Ridge

All parts of this program will be conducted entirely outdoors, so please dress appropriately for the weather, wear closed-toed shoes, and bring a filled water bottle.

This adult program requires registration and costs $25 for Friends of the Museum Members and $30 for non-members. Please note that if you have already taken this workshop, we ask that you wait at least two years before taking it again.
