Blackberry Bonanza

Calling all gardeners, weeders, outdoor enthusiasts, and lovers of Piedmont prairies – we need your help! Our beloved prairies are being taken over by invasive blackberry and we need help to remove it.

Join us for a Blackberry Bonanza as we head into our prairies, remove invasive species, and open new space for our native prairie plants to grow. By reducing invasive species we’ll increase the quality of our prairie habitat, which will benefit everything from the native plants that comprise the prairie to the mammals, birds, insects, reptiles, and more that rely on the habitat for food and shelter.

We’ll provide gloves and tools (although you’re welcome to bring your own!), as well as blackberry-themed snacks in exchange for a morning of community-fueled invasive species removal. We welcome families and folks of all ages, but please note that this program will include physical labor (digging out and removing blackberry roots) and that you may encounter blackberry thorns.
