The City Nature Challenge is an international citizen science event that encourages people to document as many wild living things in their area as possible.
Join us at Prairie Ridge for a hunt to find the biggest, smallest, most colorful, most superlative species on our grounds! Meet at our Outdoor Classroom to get a list of things to look for, then head out to find and photograph as many things on the list as you can. We hope this program will help you find new things that you have not thought to look for at Prairie Ridge and stretch what you can do with your camera to its limits!
This program is best suited for ages 8+, but everyone is welcome. Please bring a phone or other camera (pre-load iNaturalist or Seek on your phone if possible!) and a water bottle. Please dress for the weather and wear closed-toed shoes and long pants. We have cameras that you can borrow if you do not have your own! Head toward the Outdoor Classroom for a quick orientation upon arrival, a short 3–5 minute walk down the gravel road.
