Teen Science Café: Monster Rockets

This presentation compares the three biggest rockets ever built—the legendary Saturn V that took humans to the Moon, NASA’s powerful Space Launch System (SLS), and SpaceX’s ambitious Starship. Learn how these giants stack up in size, power, design and mission goals. Also, discover how each represents a different era of space exploration and our evolving plans to explore the Moon, Mars and beyond.

About the presenter

Alan Rich is a retired scientist and engineer now working with NASA as a JPL Solar System Ambassador and occasional software tester and tech spin-off developer. He also represents the Los Angeles Astronomical Society. Alan enjoys taking deep topics such as astrophysics and rocket science and presenting them to any age group and education level in a way that’s entertaining and easy to understand.


This program is recommended for participants ages 11–17. Cafés will be held in person at the Daily Planet Cafe AND streamed live on YouTube. Registration is required for online participation.
