Join us for classes designed especially for homeschool and track-out students. These 60-minute classes allow us to delve deeper into topics and incorporate additional learning experiences.
Use a compound microscope to discover a variety of beneficial protists and other microscopic life living in a drop of pondwater. Learn to identify and examine protists such as Paramecium, Amoeba, Euplotes, and Volvox and explore how these single-celled organisms carry out the basic functions of life. Students will make wet-mount slides, become proficient in the use of compound microscopes, and learn how to calculate total magnification.
Participants must be 11 years of age or older for this program. This is a drop-off program, but adults must stay in the Museum during the program time.
