Hear the story of an iconic North Atlantic right whale known as “Stumpy” by the scientists who followed her for 30 years. Lisa Gatens, NCMNS Mammology Collections Manager will be in Whiteville to discuss Stumpy’s journey to Raleigh, where her story educates visitors about whale diversity and obstacles that these critically endangered animals face. Gatens will address threats and laws related to this species as well as conservation techniques being implemented to reverse population decline.
