Help us celebrate Take a Child Outside Week and the Worldwide Day of Play with FlutterFest, a family-friendly celebration of our amazing local pollinators!

Dressed in your favorite pollinator costume (bee, butterfly, bat, bird, etc!), get ready to explore, engage, and play in nature at activity stations set up around Prairie Ridge! From pollinating like a bee to crafting bat homes to creating hummingbird kites, you’ll explore pollinators in new ways and dive into the wonderful world of native plants and the amazing critters that pollinate them. In addition to nature-themed fun, Raleigh Popsicle Company will also have popsicles for sale on site!

This is a free program beginning at 9:30am, with activities spread out between the parking lot, Outdoor Classroom, and Nature PlaySpace. Come dressed for the weather in your best pollinator costume and be prepared to take a walk! This program is designed for families with children ages 0 to 10 and includes walking between activities on uneven grass- and gravel-covered paths.

This event will serve as a culmination of Take a Child Outside Week, a North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences initiative to get kids outside and engaging with nature!
