Our Museum parties are a great way for children to celebrate a birthday or enjoy a fun and unique gathering with friends. We have two packages designed to create unforgettable memories and a one-of-a-kind party at the Museum. Choose the perfect fit for your celebration: the immersive fun of our Deluxe Party or the flexible freedom of our Standard Party.
Pick our Deluxe Party package and let us take the lead! You’ll select from exciting themes for ages 4-12, like Ocean Creatures, Dinosaur Discovery, Space Exploration or Weird Science. Our dedicated party staff will handle the themed activities and a fascinating live animal program for up to 15 children. Experience 90 minutes of hassle-free, high-energy fun in your theme-decorated private party room.
Everyone can become a party animal with our Standard Party package! Consider this option for an all-ages celebration with greater flexibility. You’ll enjoy a dedicated party room for 90 minutes, complete with simple birthday decor and three engaging self-led activities for up to 20 participants. It’s the ideal choice for a relaxed and customizable celebration.

Deluxe Party

Themes
Ocean Creatures
Ages: 4–10
Get ready to dive into our new theme — Ocean Creatures! Adventure as young marine biologists to explore creatures from the North Carolina tidal zone to the open ocean. Make a jellyfish to take home, explore marine specimens and meet live animals that have some relatives out at sea. Participants will take home marine fossils and their jellyfish craft.
Dinosaur Discovery
Ages: 4–7
Discover two of the most beloved dinosaurs of all time: T. rex and Triceratops! Together, we will embark on our own paleontological dinosaur dig and meet some live animals to see how they compare to these magnificent dinosaurs. Each participant will receive a bag of fossil matrix to explore at home.
Ages: 8-10
Let’s dig deep into the world of dinosaurs! Explore real fossils, learn about how fossils are formed and what they can tell us about the world. Meet live animals whose ancestors can be traced back to the time of the dinosaurs! Each participant will get to take home some of the fossils they discovered at the party.
Space Exploration
Ages 5-8
Get ready to explore beyond planet Earth! Embark on a journey to space by blasting off with our rocket ships. Explore constellations and create your own to shine at home! Meet some animals that appear to defy gravity and some you can see among the stars. Each participant will get to take home their straw rocket and constellations made during the party.
Ages 9-12
Ready to discover what the Moon is made of? Can we really see animals in the sky? Embark on a journey to space and create your own constellations to shine at home! Explore what the Moon is made of and make your own fizzling Moon rocks. Meet some animals that appear to defy gravity and some you can see among the stars. Each participant will take home their constellations and Moon rock made during the party.
Weird Science
Ages 6-10
Come explore the weird and wacky side of science! Be a mad scientist for the day as we create some crazy chemistry experiments and delve into the science behind them. Choose either Super Slime or Fizzling Fun as your featured activity. In Super Slime, explore the chemistry behind slime as you make your own slime to take home. In Fizzling Fun, create the exciting vinegar + baking soda reaction in mini-volcanoes and make your own magic fizzling treasure rocks to take home.
Standard Party
$300 plus tax; Members receive a $30 discount
Party Includes:
- 1 Party Staff to monitor the room
- 3 self-led activities for up to 20 participants
- Birthday banner and tablecloths with some decorations
- Tables and chairs for 25 guests
- Compostable plates, forks, napkins and cups for 25 guests
- Digital invitation for your guests
- 15% discount off regular-priced merchandise in the Museum Stores on the day of your party (applies only to the host family)
Self-led Activities:
- Scratch-off dinosaurs and animals
- Design your own rainbow animal or dinosaur
- Includes 20 scratchers and scratching sticks
- Wooden wiggly snakes
- Color a wooden wiggly snake to take home
- Includes 20 wiggly snakes and washable markers
- Museum Scavenger Hunt
- 25 copies of a scavenger hunt to complete while exploring the Museum
- Golf pencils will be provided
Cancellation Policy
- Full refund (minus a processing fee) if cancelled at least four weeks prior to party date.
- 50% refund (plus tax) if cancelled at least three weeks prior to party date.
- 25% refund (plus tax) if cancelled at least one week prior to party date.
- NO refund if canceled less than one week prior to party date. You may reschedule. Last-minute/day-of cancellations wishing to reschedule will include a fee to cover staffing/set up.
