We will hike through the world\u2019s largest population of the federally endangered smooth coneflower in peak bloom during this visit to the Picture Creek nature preserve. This power-line corridor through a unique diabase geologic area gives us a good sense of what the Piedmont prairies were like in earlier times. You will see wildflowers here that you don\u2019t see in most areas of the Piedmont.<\/p>\n
