Science-based management and enlightened conservation efforts have aided black bears in making a dramatic comeback across their historic ranges. Ashley Hobbs, a bear biologist with the NC Wildlife Resources Commission, will discuss the natural history of black bears in western North Carolina and how you can use that information to safely coexist with these North Carolina treasures. Ashley will also tell us about the BearWise\u00ae initiative, which provides ways to prevent conflicts, provides resources to resolve problems and encourages community initiatives to keep bears wild.<\/p>\n
