Join us for our weekend exploration of Alligator River and Pea Island National Wildlife Refuges in eastern North Carolina.\u00a0 We will ride through the refuges on the museum bus with frequent stops to look for birds and other wildlife.\u00a0 Some stops will include short to moderate walks along trails.\u00a0 Black bears are commonly spotted in this area.\u00a0 We have a chance to see the critically endangered Red Wolf and learn about efforts to save this species from extinction.\u00a0 We will also explore the maritime forest of Nags Head Woods and the huge sand dune of Jockey\u2019s Ridge State Park, along with other natural areas as time permits.<\/p>\n
