Tonight’s Talk<\/h3>\n

Learn about the science that won this year\u2019s Nobel Prize in Physics in a special presentation brought to you by the Department of Physics at NCSU. This year\u2019s Nobel Prize went to scientists who investigated capturing snapshots of electrons with lasers. We\u2019ll hear from Dr. Kenan Gundogdu and Dr. Melike Biliroglu at NCSU who will share the background of these discoveries and why they\u2019re so important to our understanding of quantum physics.<\/p>\n

Tonight’s Experts<\/h3>\n

Dr. Kenan Gundogdu is a professor of physics at NC State University. His research group investigates quantum materials using ultrafast optics with a goal to identify materials useful in a wide array of devices, such as LEDs, displays, and solar conversion.<\/p>\n

Dr. Melike Biliroglu is a Postdoctoral Researcher in Prof. Kenan Gundogdu’s group. Dr. Biliroglu\u2018s research is focused on investigating and manipulating the quantum behavior (Superfluorescence) of materials at elevated temperatures using ultrafast spectroscopic techniques. Dr. Biliroglu\u2019s overarching objective is to make phenomena that are typically difficult to observe accessible at practical temperatures.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
