Walt Disney Animation Studios&#8217; feature film \u201cEncanto\u201d tells the tale of the Madrigals, an extraordinary family who lives in a wondrous, charmed place called an Encanto. Each child has been blessed with a magic gift unique to themselves \u2014 each child except Mirabel. But when the family\u2019s home is threatened, Mirabel may be their only hope.<\/p>\n<p>We\u2019ll host an expert and movie trivia (with prizes) following the screening. The magic of the Encanto has blessed every child in the family with a unique gift \u2014 from super strength to the power to heal \u2014 every child except one: Mirabel. But when she discovers that the magic surrounding the Encanto is in danger, Mirabel decides that she, the only ordinary Madrigal, might just be her exceptional family&#8217;s last hope.<\/p>\n<h3><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"img-responsive\" src=\"https:\/\/naturalsciences.org\/calendar\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/Cove_Mike.png\" alt=\"Mike Cove\" \/><\/h3>\n<h3>OUR SPEAKER<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Dr. Mike Cove<\/strong>, the Museum&#8217;s Research Curator of Mammalogy, is an applied conservation ecologist and mammalogist. His research approach uses traditional methods and museum collections, as well as current noninvasive survey techniques and statistical modeling procedures, to study population and community ecology both locally and internationally. His research interests are mainly focused on the conservation of mammal communities, but also mesopredator release and trophic cascades, the urban\/suburban wildlife interface, species invasions, disease ecology and animal microbiomes, and human dimensions of conservation and sustainable development in the tropics.
