Photo: Jeff Beane.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>We will hike around Prairie Ridge Ecostation and the Museum\u2019s Research Lab at 1671 Gold Star Drive in west Raleigh. Depending on weather, time, and the group\u2019s interest, the walk could continue down the Reedy Creek Greenway to the edge of Schenck Forest. We will explore terrestrial, stream and pond habitats to look for common Piedmont amphibian and reptile species and will discuss techniques for turning up various species.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Length of hike:<\/strong> two hours with the option to continue.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Minimum age:<\/strong> 10 years old (all minors must be accompanied by an adult).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Instructions:<\/strong> Wear comfortable field clothing appropriate for the weather. Hiking boots or other comfortable walking shoes that you don\u2019t mind potentially getting muddy are recommended (some muddy ground is likely along stream and pond edges). This will be mostly easy walking, but we could cover several miles, depending on the group\u2019s interests. A small backpack, hat, extra clothing layers, sunscreen, water bottle, snacks and flashlight or headlamp are optional items, depending on weather and how long the group would like to be out.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Caminata Herpetol\u00f3gica: Peque\u00f1os reptiles y anf\u00edbios de la pradera (B\u00fasqueda herpetol\u00f3gica urbana en el Prairie Ridge)<\/h2>\n<p>Caminaremos alrededor de la ecoestaci\u00f3n Prairie Ridge y el laboratorio de investigaci\u00f3n del museo en 1671 Gold Star Drive al oeste de Raleigh.
