No harm ever came from&#8230; reading a book.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Embrace your inner archeologist at our August 15th installment of Museum Movie Night.\u00a0 After saving him from certain death, English librarian Evelyn Carnahan gains the help of Rick O&#8217;Connell to uncover the secrets of the ancient city of Hamunaptra. What Evelyn, her brother Jonathan and Rick are unaware of is that another group of explorers are interested in the same dig. Unfortunately for everyone, this group ends up unleashing a curse which been laid on the dead High Priest Imhotep. Now &#8216;The Mummy&#8217; is awake and it&#8217;s going to take a lot more than guns to send him back to where he came from. In addition to science activities and stations before the movie, we\u2019ll host an expert and movie trivia (with prizes) following the screening. She has excavated at the Royal City of Mero\u00eb, Dangeil and Sedeinga, all archaeological sites located in Sudan. She currently serves as Director of Research and Curator of Ancient Collections at the North Carolina Museum of Art, overseeing the archaeological collections of the ancient Mediterranean and ancient Americas.\u00a0 Her publications include <i>Amun Temples in Nubia: A Typological Study of New Kingdom, Napatan, and Meroitic Temples<\/i>;\u00a0<i>Ancient Egyptian\u00a0<\/i>Art (the catalogue of the NCMA\u2019s Egyptian collection);\u00a0\u00a0<i>The Bacchus Conservation Project<\/i><span lang=\"EN-US\">;<i>\u00a0<\/i>and the forthcoming catalogue of the ancient Greek, Italian, and Roman collection.<\/span><\/p>\n<hr class=\"cleardiv\" \/>\n<h3>SCIENCE STATIONS (5:30\u20137PM)<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Shifting Sands<\/strong><br \/>\n<span data-teams=\"true\">Imhotep\u2019s curse has raised the desert sands! We are going to use those sands to take a close look at resonance patterns with fun vibrating plates called Chladni Plates. What patterns will you uncover?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Scarab Facts &amp; Fictions<\/strong><br \/>\n<span data-teams=\"true\">Investigate interesting scarab specimens and realize how far-fetched it is to imagine scarab beetles crawling into your skin like they do in the film.
