I went out to find one of these extraordinary ectoparasitic insects with my museum colleague, <a href=\"https:\/\/naturalsciences.org\/staff\/lisa-gatens\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Lisa Gatens<\/a><\/span><span class=\"yt-core-attributed-string--link-inherit-color\">, as she was trapping and banding bats in the North Carolina&#8217;s Coastal Plain.
