Visit the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences in downtown Raleigh on Saturday, April 22, 10 a.m. \u2013 5 p.m. and immerse yourself in the excitement of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics). Free.<\/p>\n

Featuring dozens of hands-on exhibits, games, crafts, activities and presentations, Triangle SciTech Expo is a unique event that gives visitors a chance to talk directly to area experts, scientists and specialists that are actively developing new technologies and finding new ways to use existing technologies.<\/p>\n

Did you know that the museum\u2019s iconic (and photogenic) Daily Planet is the largest satellite-image globe in the world? This year, you\u2019ll hear the story behind this eye-catching landmark, and see how it can be used to understand the relative scales of the atmosphere, hydrosphere, geosphere and biosphere.<\/p>\n

Visitors can also make their own putt-putt boat, a little candle-powered craft that sputters and coughs just like a real motorboat, all thanks to the power of steam. Come face to face with live animals that design and create their own amazing homes. Or take over the controls of a competition-level robot as you drive around and pick up traffic cones.<\/p>\n
