Join oceanographer Kate Davis to hear how some of the smallest organisms in the open ocean can tell us so much about how the oceans responded to climate change in the past and what the future could be like for our watery world. Davis presents \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/naturalsciences.org\/calendar\/event\/challenging-the-deep-lecture-series-with-kate-davis\/\"><strong>The Secret Life and Afterlife of Miniature Marine Fossils<\/strong><\/a>\u201d at the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences on Thursday, Feb. 9 at 7 p.m. Come early and gain discounted entry to the Museum\u2019s current special exhibition, \u201cJames Cameron \u2013 CHALLENGING THE DEEP,\u201d which explores filmmaker James Cameron\u2019s extensive career as a deep-sea explorer and his many history-making expeditions.<\/p>\n<p>Davis, an assistant professor at North Carolina State University, has always been fascinated by the natural world and especially the ocean. She received her PhD from the Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences at the University of California Davis, and recently joined the Department of Marine, Earth and Atmospheric Sciences at NC State. Her research interests are \u201cat the intersection of modern and paleo-oceanography, and include chemical oceanography, micropaleontology and paleoclimatology.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Tickets are $10; free for Members.
