(RALEIGH, N.C.) \u2014 Every house has secrets. But what happened in this house is a mystery that began a long time ago, when Alan Parrish was just a young boy who made an incredible discovery \u2026 then disappeared. Don\u2019t miss \u201cJumanji<\/strong><\/a>\u201d (1995, PG) on the big screen at the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences, Friday, June 28 at 7 p.m.<\/p>\n

After being trapped in a magical board game for 26 years, a grown-up Alan (Robin Williams) wins his release from the game. But, as soon as he arrives home he is forced to play again, and this time sets the creatures of the jungle loose on the city. Now it is up to him, and long-lost friend Sarah Whittle (Bonnie Hunt), to stop them.<\/p>\n

The late great Williams was a comic genius and star of the \u201cMork & Mindy\u201d TV series of the late \u201870s \u2013 early \u201880s. But it was a more dramatic role in \u201cThe World According to Garp\u201d (1982) that really launched his film career. Many memorable roles followed, as Adrian Cronauer in \u201cGood Morning, Vietnam\u201d (1987), John Keating in \u201cDead Poets Society\u201d (1989), the title character in \u201cMrs. Doubtfire\u201d (1993), psychiatrist Sean in \u201cGood Will Hunting\u201d (1997, for which he won an Academy Award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role) and creepy Seymour in \u201cOne Hour Photo\u201d (2002). He was a natural for voice work and set the bar high as the Genie in \u201cAladdin\u201d (1992), as well as \u201cRobots\u201d (2005) and \u201cHappy Feet\u201d (2006).<\/p>\n

Hunt is a comedian as well as an actress, who also starred in \u201cThe Green Mile\u201d (1999) along with Tom Hanks and in \u201cCheaper by the Dozen\u201d (2003) with Steve Martin. Like Williams, she has also done voice work in several movies, including the \u201cCars\u201d franchise as Sally Carrera and the last two \u201cToy Story\u201d movies as Dolly.<\/p>\n

Prior to the movie, beginning at 5:30 p.m., check out movie-themed science stations.\u00a0Plus, a special guest will help separate the facts from the fiction following the screening.\u00a0Finally Friday movie nights feature a fun night of trivia and tongue-in-cheek commentary on popular science-themed movies, complemented by experts and hands-on science stations related to each night\u2019s theme. Dinner (such as sliders or tacos), beverages and popcorn will be available for purchase before the show. Doors open at 5:30 p.m.; movies begin at 7 p.m. Admission: $5\/person.
