All winning photographs, including honorable mention selections from the two youth categories, will be on exhibit at the\u00a0North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences\u00a0beginning February 3, 2017.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOne Eye\u201d marks the second year in a row Ellison has won the competition after taking top honors in 2015 for his detailed photograph of an assassin fly. Although Ellison is the contest\u2019s only two-time grand prize winner, Randolph County photographer Eric Abernethy won two first prizes this year \u2014 in the Reptiles and Amphibians category with a photo of a pregnant timber rattlesnake and in the Wild Plants category with his photograph of raindrops on lily pads.<\/p>\n<p>Other first place winners, by category:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Birds:<\/strong> Jim Parnell, Wilmington, eastern wild turkey in wheat<\/li>\n<li><strong>Mammals:<\/strong> Bobby Nicks, Cary, elk eating grass<\/li>\n<li><strong>Invertebrates:<\/strong> Alan Clark, Raleigh, spider spinning a web in Durham County<\/li>\n<li><strong>Wild Landscapes:<\/strong> Carey Plemmons, South Mills, Frisco Pier during a winter storm<\/li>\n<li><strong>Outdoor Recreation:<\/strong> Daniel Pullen, Buxton, a surfer at sunset<\/li>\n<li><strong>Animal Behavior:<\/strong> Frank Clemmensen, Durham, two grasshoppers mating<\/li>\n<li><strong>Youth Photographer 13-17:<\/strong> Josh Hunter, Salisbury, a silver-spotted skipper on a plant<\/li>\n<li><strong>Youth Photographer 12 and under:<\/strong> Tyler Jernigan, Snow Hill, an eastern hognose snake<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>All winning images are also viewable on the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ncwildlife.org\/Learning\/Multimedia-Center\/Wildlife-in-North-Carolina#74291032-table-of-contents\" target=\"_blank\">Wildlife Commission\u2019s website<\/a> at www.ncwildlife.org.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong><em>The North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences<\/em><\/strong><em> (11 W.
