The N.C. Division of Motor Vehicles has approved our application for a specialty license plate featuring the toothy skeleton of <em>Acrocanthosaurus<\/em>, one of the Museum\u2019s signature dinosaur specimens and better known as the \u201cTerror of the South.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The DMV has processed all applications from the initial launch and plates are now in production.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>Standard plates<\/strong> will be mailed at the end of September.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><strong>Personalized plates<\/strong> will be mailed at the end of October.<\/p>\n<p>Applications will reopen through the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncdot.gov\/dmv\/offices-services\/online\/Pages\/my-ncdmv-custom-plates.aspx\">DMV\u2019s online system<\/a> in November.<\/p>\n<p>With each $30 specialty plate purchase, $20 goes directly to the Friends of the N.C. Museum of Natural Sciences, the non-profit organization that helps fund the Museum\u2019s mission by supporting research, exhibits, educational programs and conservation efforts.
