DESCRIPTION:Come join us for a butterfly walk! We will talk about butterfly behavior and learn how to identify different species\, and then take a walk on the prairie to look for butterflies. \nThis program is for ages 8 and up\, families welcome. Please dress for the weather\, wear closed-toed shoes\, and bring water. We will meet at the green entrance gate near the kiosk. No registration required.

SUMMARY:Live Animal Feeding – Snapping Turtle
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a live feeding of the common snapping turtle in the Bottomland Hardwood Forest exhibit. The common snapping turtle is the largest of North Carolina’s freshwater turtles\, and lives in ponds\, streams and rivers. These turtles will eat almost anything — plants\, small animals and even dead matter. We feed our turtle a diet of vegetable matter plus occasional whole prey items. Enjoy the live feeding and meet Living Collections staff. \nThis walk-up program is offered: \n\nSunday — 11am\nThursday – 1:30pm\n\nLocation: Bottomland Hardwood Forest on the 2nd floor of the Nature Exploration Center. \nNo registration required.
