SUMMARY:Project RESTORE Educator Trek: Mad for Madtoms
DESCRIPTION:Meet the Carolina Madtom\, a tiny\, native catfish. Photo: NCWRC. \nThis workshop takes place over two days: Day 1 will be 10am to 3pm on Wednesday\, July 9\,  AND Day 2 will be 9am- 3pm on Thursday\, July 10 (or\, in the event of rain\, July 16-17). \nJoin us in the search for one of North Carolina’s rarest fishes\, the federally endangered Carolina Madtom\, found only in the Neuse and Tar River Basins in North Carolina. Join expert biologists as we explore the natural history of the madtom\, learn about challenges and ongoing restoration practices for the species\, and participate in field monitoring of this cool little catfish. Discover how you can bring the excitement of field research of this rare species into your classroom. \nWith support from the US Fish and Wildlife Service\, Project RESTORE (Rescuing Endangered Species Through Outreach\, Restoration and Education) will feature a suite of educational opportunities for teachers and students to participate in restoration and monitoring of imperiled and endangered species in eastern North Carolina. \nEligibility: This workshop is open to educators (includes teachers\, administrators\, pre-service or substitute teachers; non-formal educators; anyone working on their EE certification) \nCredit: 11 contact hours toward CEUs or Criteria II/III for North Carolina’s Environmental Education Certification Program \nThis workshop is full. Please join the waiting list! \nThe full workshop fee is due when you register and payment is via credit card. Registration for most Educator Treks is on a first-come\, first-served basis. Treks fill quickly\, so register early! \nDETAILS \n\nFee: $25 deposit (will be refunded upon completion of the workshop). No overnight accommodations are provided.\nRequirements: This workshop is open to educators (includes teachers\, administrators\, pre-service or substitute teachers; non-formal educators; anyone working on their EE certification)\nIf you are interested in attending and find the workshop is full\, we have good news: the waiting list is open. SUMMARY:Summer Story Time at the Museum - Bilingual
DESCRIPTION:Join us for story time this summer at the museum! We will read a story and learn about the natural world together. We might even have a live animal ambassador join us after the story! \nThis is a free program beginning at 10:30am in the Windows on the World classroom\, located on the 3rd floor of the Nature Exploration Center in downtown Raleigh. Everyone is welcome at story time\, but it is designed especially for kids 7 and younger. Story time books are chosen with this age group in mind. Please note that we do not guarantee the opportunity to touch live animals during this program.
