At 18 years old\, when Amy decided to be a geologist\, she had no idea. To her\, geology meant that she got to outside\, get dirty\, and study the earth – being a woman never factored into her career decision. Over the past 25 years\, there have been professional highs and lows\, obstacles to overcome\, and barriers to be broken. All of this helped Amy to rediscover her voice and end up with the best job a geologist could imagine. Join Amy for a look back on her geology journey. \nAmy Pitts\, Senior Geologist for Education and Outreach\, North Carolina Geological Survey\, North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality \n\nThroughout the month of March\, the Lunchtime Discovery Series will recognize Women’s History Month and women’s contributions to science and conservation.
