SUMMARY:Science Detectives: Classification and Common Ancestry
DESCRIPTION:Science Detectives: Classification and Common Ancestry \nJoin us for classes designed especially for homeschool and track-out students. These 60-minute classes allow us to delve deeper into topics and incorporate additional learning experiences. \nWhat exactly is common ancestry and evolution? Who was Carl von Linne? What is the difference between classification and identification? What is a phylogeny and how is it important to the classification of organisms? To answer these questions\, we will introduce the concept of biological classification and the importance evolution and common ancestry play in correct phylogeny. Participants will learn how to interpret a phylogenetic tree and learn the value and limitation of “keys” in organizing groups of objects while developing their own dichotomous key. \nParticipants must be 11 years of age or older for this program. This is a drop-off program\, but adults must stay in the Museum during the program time. \nREGISTER NOW!\nRegistration ends 48 hours prior to program start time. \nFor more information contact Missy Chernick.

SUMMARY:Science Detectives: Animal Homes!
DESCRIPTION:Science Detectives: Animal Homes! \nJoin us for classes designed especially for homeschool and track-out students. These 60-minute classes allow us to delve deeper into topics and incorporate additional learning experiences. \nAnimals live in many different kinds of homes. Some animals build their homes\, some borrow their homes\, and some grow their own! We will learn about animal habitats in the wild and here at the Museum\, and even try building some homes of our own! \n*This program may include messy craft materials\, so a change of clothes for after your program might be a good idea! \nParticipants must be 5-7 years old for this program. \nThis is a drop-off program\, but adults must stay in the Museum during the program time. \nREGISTER NOW!\nRegistration ends 48 hours prior to program start time. \nFor more information contact Missy Chernick.

SUMMARY:Science Detectives: Animals in Winter
DESCRIPTION:Science Detectives: Animals in Winter \nJoin us for classes designed especially for homeschool and track-out students. These 60-minute classes allow us to delve deeper into topics and incorporate additional learning experiences. \nBrrrr\, it’s chilly outside! As winter wears on\, do you find yourself wondering where many of the animals have gone? You probably know about animals who migrate\, but what about the slower moving animals who creep or crawl and can’t leave? There are many different ways animals can survive in the winter\, so join us to explore concepts like hibernation\, brumation\, and torpor. We’ll take a look at just who is underground and underfoot\, or hiding out in places that may surprise you! \nParticipants must be 8-10 years old for this program. This is a drop-off program\, but adults must stay in the Museum during the program time. \nREGISTER NOW!\nRegistration ends 48 hours prior to program start time. \nFor more information contact Missy Chernick.
