DESCRIPTION:The North Carolina Museum of History presents the 29th annual American Indian Heritage Celebration on November 23 from 11am–4pm. Hosted at the NC Museum of Natural Sciences this year while the History Museum is closed for renovation. \nGet event details\, schedule of activities. \nThis annual celebration of American Indian history and culture brings guests into the vibrant Indigenous heritage of our state. Dive into the American Indian experience to explore the knowledge\, traditions\, and profound impact Native people had on both history and modern culture. \nThe event will kick off with the powerful sounds of drums\, vocal performances\, and flute songs during the Grand Entry. The eight state-recognized tribes will progress through Bicentennial Plaza\, proudly showcasing their unique regalia\, dances\, and cultural traditions. SUMMARY:Art of Science: Animal Tracks and Felt Animals
DESCRIPTION:The Art of Science series is for adults ages 18+ who like to blend science and art. Each program will include hands-on experience with a citizen science project paired with an associated art project. Participants will take home their project\, supplies\, and tools so they can make additional projects on their own. \nIn this program\, we will explore animal tracks and ways to share your observations with scientists as well as make felt animal plushes of your choice. Instructions for collecting and submitting tracks data and making your plushes will be provided during the program — no experience required! SUMMARY:Astronomy Night
DESCRIPTION:Spend a night with the stars at our winter astronomy night! Raleigh Astronomy Club will have telescopes available for viewing of the night sky\, or grab a star map so you can find constellations on your own. Have a telescope? You’re welcome to bring it. We have a great view of the sky! \nPlease come dressed for the weather as this program will be held entirely outdoors. Bring a flashlight — we have no lighting on the way to the restrooms and it will be dark. In the event of rain\, snow or cloudy conditions\, the program may be canceled. Check back here after 4pm on the day of the program for cancellation information. \nThe gate to the road will open at 6:50pm – please do not plan to arrive earlier as there is no where to safely park outside of the gate.
