SUMMARY:Endangered Species Day
DESCRIPTION:The third Friday of May is Endangered Species Day. It’s a day to celebrate success in protecting endangered species and to recognize the threatened and endangered species that need conservation action. Join scientists from the NCMNS Biodiversity Research Lab and NCMNS Mammalogy Collection in the SECU Daily Planet Theater to hear a series of short presentations about endangered species in North Carolina and around the world. Our scientists will share stories of their work and research on endangered species\, such as red wolves\, right whales\, jaguars\, black rhinos\, and black-footed ferrets. After the presentations\, we’ll discuss how the Museum is acting to save species in NC and beyond. \nOur Experts \n\nDr. Roland  Kays\, Head of the Biodiversity Research Lab and professor at NC State University\nDr. Elizabeth Kierepka\, Senior Research Biologist\, NCMNS and NCSU\nDr. Mike Cove\, Research Curator of Mammalogy Mammals and Research Associate at Smithsonian Conservation Biology Institute\nLisa Gatens\, Collections Manager of Mammalogy\nDr. Alex Jensen\, postdoctoral researcher in NCMNS Biodiversity Research Lab\n\nJoin in person in the SECU Daily Planet Theater or watch the livestream on YouTube.
