SUMMARY:Science Detectives: Electronics for Beginners
DESCRIPTION:Join us for classes designed especially for homeschool and track-out students. These classes allow us to delve deeper into topics and incorporate additional learning experiences. \nThe prevalence of cheap\, easy-to-attain technologies (such as Arduino) has resulted in a DIY electronics renaissance. These hands-on problem solving activities teach the basics of electricity and computer programming in a way that is both challenging and fun. The next great inventor could be you! \nThis program is 90 minutes long. \nParticipants must be 11 years of age or older for this program. \nREGISTER NOW!\nRegistration ends 48 hours prior to program start time. \nFor more information contact Missy Chernick.

SUMMARY:Science Detectives: Bones & Muscles of the Body
DESCRIPTION:Join us for classes designed especially for homeschool and track-out students. These 60-minute classes allow us to delve deeper into topics and incorporate additional learning experiences. \nHow do the bones and muscles in a human body compare to those in other animals? In this program\, we will learn about the skeletal and muscular systems of the human body while exploring these systems in other animal groups and discover adaptions for locomotion along the way. \nParticipants must be 8–10 years old for this program. \nREGISTER NOW!\nRegistration ends 48 hours prior to program start time. \nFor more information contact Missy Chernick.

SUMMARY:Lunchtime Discovery: Conversation with Black Family Land Trust Executive Director Ebonie Alexander
DESCRIPTION:Expanding The Legacy\nWe honor the legacy of those stewards of the land that came before us and have faith in those stewards of the land that will come after us. The North Carolina-based Black Family Land Trust (BFLT) is one of the nation’s only conservation land trusts dedicated to the preservation and protection of African-American and other historically under-served landowner assets. The BFLT utilizes the core principles of land conservation and land-based community economic development to achieve their goals. They measurably improve the quality of life for landowners by providing families with the tools necessary to make informed\, proactive decisions regarding their land and its use. The BFLT works primarily in the Southeastern United States\, and their programs are intergenerational in their design. Join us as host Chris Smith interviews BFLT Executive Director Ebonie Alexander and takes your questions live! \nJoin us on YouTube!\n\nLive Virtual Presentation hosted by NC Museum of Natural Sciences’ Coordinator of Current Science Programs Chris Smith and the NC Department of Environmental Quality Office of Environmental Education and Public Affairs staff. \nYou can post questions in the YouTube chat or tweet questions to #LunchTimeDiscovery and mention @NorthCarolinaEE. \nBrought to you by the NC DEQ Office of Environmental Education and Public Affairs and the NC Museum of Natural Sciences.
